The suitcase packing golden rule: When packing your bag lay everything out that you would want to bring….and then take half of that.
There are many things to consider when traveling but one of the biggest headaches comes from that suitcase you have been contemplating for more than 45 minutes. At this point maybe you are even standing in front of it with a bewildered look on your face as you say to yourself, “How am I going to do this?”
First ask the question, “Where am I traveling to?”
Think about your destination, the weather, and the activities you want to do once you are there. When deciding on the clothes take into account the weather and design your outfits based on this along with a motif or color scheme. I recommend a color scheme as this allows you the opportunity to mix and match. This will help so you can still be trendy, functional, picture ready, and most of all…it saves space in your suitcase.
Second question is, “Which clothes are best to bring?”
Well, again the destination and activities are important. Take a moment to think about this. There is a good chance you might go swimming so bring one or two swimsuits. Swimsuits are easy to pack so these items should always be included. When it comes to socks bring the exact amount of days plus two. You never know what will happen plus they are easy to line the bottom or sides of your suitcase with as well as inside of your shoes. Always bring a scarf or shawl. These are cute, fun, and can be the perfect accessory for any type of weather.
This part is important for shoes, you don’t need to pack them all! Bring 2-3 pairs including the pair you wear to travel in. Make sure that the pair you are wearing is your comfortable all around adventure shoes! Trust me these are a must. Then for the second and possibly third bring something fun while still keeping in mind your color scheme. Now when it comes to the rest of your clothing, 2 pants, 1 legging, 1 dress, and 2 shorts are all you will need. Remember your clothing color scheme will save you and prevent your vacation photos from looking like you never changed during your entire trip.
Third is not a question but a warning!
“Be careful with liquids when packing your bathroom toiletries and your suitcase weight.”
In regards to carry-ons, each liquid container must be 3.4 ounces or 100 ml or less and must fit in one quart-sized resealable bag. Any liquids larger than 3.4 ounces (100ml) must be stored in your checked bag. Make sure to review the weight of your checked bag before you leave. It is always recommendable to look into your weight as well as size details via your flight provider. After you have packed your bag remember to inform the baggage handler to mark it as fragile this will ensure it is handled with care and it will be one of the first-off the plan (you are welcome).
Most importantly, lighter is better and leave space in your suitcase for fun as well as whatever interesting and unique items you encounter along your journeys.
That is how you TravelSmart! Safe journeys.
